We are a church fueled by the desire to see people discover meaning and purpose in their life that extends beyond themselves. We strive to see marriages healed, restored and thrive. We long to help kids understand that a life with God is better than one without him. We push to see God’s kingdom lived out here and now as we make a difference in our community and our city because it’s our understanding that when a church moves into a city, things get better.

PASTOR JAMES DAVIS

James Davis is the Lead Pastor of The Rising. A native of Norfolk, VA, he graduated from Booker T. Washington High School and then from Mid-Atlantic Christian University in 2005 with a Bachelor’s in the Bible. James served as the Student Ministry Pastor of a Virginia Beach Church for 7 years before leaving to launch The Rising. He and his high school sweetheart, Irene, have been married since 2006 and they, with their daughter Amaya and son Aiden, live in Norfolk.

In The Rising Kidz we bring the fun! We go over-the-top to create a safe, fun, and clean environment where kids can discover and share God’s love to be raised to true life. Most importantly, our ministry isn’t just to kids; we want to equip your whole family and empower you to be the primary spiritual leader for your kids.
